Belgian pavilion at WETEX 2024 focuses on decarbonisation, clean energy, and water sustainability solutions
The Kingdom of Belgium’s pavilion at the 26th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) will host a number of leading Belgian companies specialising in industrial recovery boilers that recover waste heat to drive steam turbines, software to help corporates achieve decarbonisation and measure greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprints, solar-powered water pumps, flexible tanks, industrial water filtration units, and solutions for supplying drinking water to rural communities, as well as wastewater treatment and rainwater collection and reuse.
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is organising the 26th WETEX 2024 under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, from 1 to 3 October 2024 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. WETEX 2024 will feature 16 international pavilions from around the world.
“We are delighted to have Belgian companies participating in WETEX, and we hope this will further strengthen the existing ties between the UAE and Belgium. This participation builds on the successful collaborations and outstanding partnerships that Belgian companies have forged during previous WETEX events and their involvement in the Belgian delegation at COP28, hosted by the UAE. As the largest exhibition in the region for energy, water, green development, sustainability, smart cities, decarbonisation, and related sectors, and one of the largest specialised exhibitions of its kind in the world, WETEX provides an ideal opportunity to explore the future technologies that accelerate climate action. It is a globally anticipated annual forum that brings together companies, officials, policymakers, and industry experts from various critical sectors to exchange skills and knowledge and learn about the latest technologies and innovations shaping a more sustainable future for all,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, Founder and Chairman of WETEX.
“Belgium shares with the UAE the will to foster a sustainable future for all. Our participation to the COP28 in the UAE last year embodied this common endeavour and we wish to pursue this commitment through our Belgian pavilion at WETEX this year, strengthening again our economic and institutional ties,” said HE Antoine Delcourt, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to the UAE.
“We are thrilled to host 6 brilliant companies from the Walloon region under our Belgium pavilion. With such a large scope of competencies, such as water treatment, processors, IT and green hydrogen, we can assure that our expertise will contribute to efforts taken to combat climate change and its impacts,” said Edith Mayeux, Economic Counselor for the AWEX, Wallonia Export & Investment Agency.
The UAE is currently Belgium’s leading trade partner in the Arab World, accounting for 21 percent of Belgium's trade with Arab countries in 2022, valued at USD 8.3 billion.
“Last year marked our debut at WETEX Dubai, and I was truly impressed by the wide range of interesting visitors and exhibitors from across the region. At Sotrad Water, we specialise in designing and manufacturing drinking water solutions for remote populations in emerging countries, ensuring that those most in need receive sustainable support. As a global hub, Dubai provided the perfect platform for us to make valuable connections with technical partners, funding structures and potential customers,” said Raoul Antoine from Sotrad Water.
Companies hosted at the Belgian international pavilion at WETEX include John Cockerill, D Carbonize, Sotrad Water, CE+T Power, Eloy Water, and Chembo Bevil.
