23 Sep 2024

The French pavilion at the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) will host global pioneering French companies specialised in different sectors, including industrial water treatment and reuse; biogas recovery to produce low-cost renewable energy; nuclear and thermal energy; the manufacture of actuators used on many types of water and industrial fluid applications; building automation; design, installation and maintenance of electrical systems; the manufacture of high-quality customised industrial valves, and large-scale electricity storage. The pavilion will also host the innovations of SUNSTREAM, the world’s No 1 manufacturer of mobile and plug & play solar solutions with no civil works.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organises the 26th WETEX under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, from 1 to 3 October 2024 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. WETEX 2024 will host 21 international pavilions from across the world.

“We are glad to host the international pavilion of France in WETEX this year. This enhances collaboration between the UAE and France and strengthens the long-term and strategic bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in clean and renewable energy, and energy systems decarbonisation, supporting economic diversity and sustainable growth. This achieves the aspirations of the leadership of both countries for more prosperity and development,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA and Founder and Chairman of WETEX.

“The French Pavilion at WETEX 2024 reflects our nation’s commitment to tackling global challenges in water and energy management through innovation. We are delighted to present the disruptive solutions of French companies, which are fully aligned with the UAE’s sustainability vision. This platform further reinforces the partnership between our two countries and France’s role as a leader in promoting sustainable technologies that will drive positive environmental impact for years to come,” said HE Jean-Christophe Paris, Consul of France in the Northern Emirates.

“As we solidify our transformation into a multi-energy company, a major player in the energy transition, our role extends to support companies within French regions as they navigate their own transformations. We assist them in their development, including international expansion, and act as a supportive guiding force, akin to a mentor,” said Alexandre Martin-Denavit, International Development Director at TotalEnergies Direction France.

Non-oil trade between the two countries increased by 12.5% during the first nine months of 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, reaching approximately AED 25.1 billion (€6.3 billion). In 2022, non-oil bilateral trade exceeded pre-pandemic levels, reaching about AED 30.4 billion, 20.5% higher than in 2021 and 53.4% over 2020. Additionally, the UAE hosts the largest number of French companies operating in the Middle East, with about 600 companies employing more than 30,000 employees. Conversely, the UAE is France's second largest investor from the GCC.
