Prominent local and international government representatives, decision makers, professionals, researchers, investors, experts and specialists in the oil and gas sector are participating in the Future Energy Landscape Forum that is held as part of the 26th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX). The Forum includes an extensive technical programme on sustainability in the oil and gas sector. The Forum will highlight the challenges and opportunities of the sustainability of this vital sector and the latest innovative solutions and technologies that shape its future. They will also cover success stories of renewable energy investment in the oil and gas sector, sustainable water practices in the sector and the leveraging of artificial intelligence (AI) and Big Data for decarbonisation.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is organising WETEX under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, from 1 to 3 October 2024, at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

During the three-day Forum, Dragon Oil – the oil exploration & production platform entirely owned by Dubai Government, and a Knowledge Partner in WETEX 2024 – in collaboration with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) will present 16 panel discussions and presentations on several topics. These include challenges of renewable energy integration, innovation in renewable energy applications in the oil and gas sector, overcoming barriers to solar energy adoption in this sector, the role of digitalisation in renewable energy, collaborative efforts for a sustainable energy future, water management challenges, innovative water conservation technologies, success stories of sustainable water practices in the oil and gas industry, enhanced water reuse and recycling, and emission control challenges. They also highlight renewable energy innovation, decarbonisation and the Circular Carbon Economy. Other topics include the prospects of relying on blue and green hydrogen as clean energy sources, accelerating the diversification of the energy mix and the latest updates in water treatment technologies.

“WETEX 2024 attaches great importance to sustainability in the oil and gas sector. Oil and gas resources continue to play an integral role in bridging the gap while the world directs its attention towards a low carbon economy and the global demand for oil is increasing.
