28 Sep 2024

The international pavilion of Germany at the 26th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) will host around 20 leading companies specialised in renewable energy, sustainability and water treatment.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organises WETEX annually under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy. WETEX will be held from 1 to 3 October this year at the Dubai World Trade Centre. It hosts 21 international pavilions from different countries around the world.

“WETEX widens the vast horizons of collaboration and joint work between the UAE and Germany. It supports the priorities that the two countries attach to innovation, sectors of the future and the economic sectors that support sustainable growth. This motivates the positive change and meets the aspirations of the UAE and Germany for a net-zero future, supporting climate action and the energy transition,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA and Founder and Chairman of WETEX.

“As the consequences of climate change become more and more visible all over the world, it is crucial not only for governments but also for companies to strive to find solutions to address this global challenge. In this regard, renewable energy and sustainability take centre stage. I am very happy that German companies are leading in these fields. We are looking forward to welcoming a growing number of German exhibitors showcasing groundbreaking and cutting-edge technology at WETEX 2024,” said HE Alexander Schönfelder, Ambassador of Germany to the UAE.

The total value of non-oil trade between the UAE and Germany reached over AED 29.3 billion (US$ 8 billion) in 2022. Dubai’s strategic location and world-class logistics facilities have established the Emirate as a preferred trade hub among German companies. Offering easy access to more than 2.2 billion consumers, Dubai serves as a dynamic gateway for businesses in Germany and the wider European region that wish to expand their global footprint.
