Day Two of WETEX 2024 offers 43 seminars and discussion panels
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised 43 seminars and discussion sessions, delivered by leading global experts and specialists on the sidelines of Day Two of the 26th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX).
DEWA organises WETEX annually under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy. The 26th edition of WETEX takes place from 1 to 3 October 2024 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Main Seminars
The main seminars focused on new technologies in the fields of energy and digital transformation. DAMAC Properties, DANUB Properties, Etihad Energy Services, Fakhruddin Properties, and Alserkal Group presented a session titled ‘Urban Development & Creating Sustainable, Liveable, and Resilient Cities,’ moderated by the journalist Hind Mustafa from MBC Group.
ACWA Power delivered two discussion sessions titled ‘Financing of Large Scale and Long Life Battery Storage’ and ‘Clean Energy Integration and the Shift from Thermal to Reverse-Osmosis Technologies’. The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy presented a discussion session on ‘Abu Dhabi Demand Side Management Strategy 2030 & DSM Regulations’. Etihad Water and Electricity hosted a session on ‘Disrupting/Emerging/Innovative Technologies in Energy, Water and Environment’. Additionally, SOCIALEYEZ presented a seminar on ‘Leading with ESG: Strategic Communications for Government and Energy Sectors’. The second day of WETEX also featured sessions titled ‘Energy Conservation’, ‘The role of Digital substation in driving the Fourth Industrial Revolution’, ‘Current and Future Trends’, ‘Digitalisation Accelerating Energy Transition’, ‘Composite Piping: The Future of Hydrogen and Clean Energy Transport’ and ‘Traveling Wave Line Protection and Monitoring’.
Future Energy Landscape Forum
The sessions of the Future Energy Landscape Forum, held on the sidelines of the exhibition, focused on topics related to the integration of renewable energy for a sustainable future in the oil and gas sector. The sessions were titled ‘Dragon Oil’s Renewable Energy Integration Opportunities’, ‘Innovations in Renewable Energy for the O&G industry’, ‘Overcoming Barriers to Renewable Energy Adoption in O&G fields’, ‘Innovations in Sustainable Energy Integration for O&G’ and ‘Best Practices for a Sustainable Energy Future in O&G’.
Renewables & Sustainability Seminars
The Renewables & Sustainability Seminars on Day Two focused on shaping a resilient future by enhancing energy efficiency, green buildings and climate financing. Day Two sessions began with an introduction by the Clean Energy Business Council MENA, followed by a presentation of a joint whitepaper titled ‘Energy Efficiency in Existing Buildings in the United Arab Emirates: Towards Effective Policies & Regulations X Deep Retrofits of Existing Buildings Towards Net Zero’. Day Two sessions also included ‘Reimagining Urban Energy: Integrating Efficiency to Achieve Net Zero Cities’, ‘Smart Building Technologies: Integrating IoT and AI for Energy Management’, ‘Overview of Green Buildings Landscape in MENA’, ‘Doubling Energy Efficiency Rates: Following COP28 Clean Energy Boost Promise’, ‘Harnessing Article 6: Advancing Climate Goals through Carbon Market Mechanisms’, ‘Financing the Future: Pioneering Sustainable Investment Strategies in MENA’, ‘Financing the Energy Transition in the MENA Region: Role of Governments and Private Sector’, and ‘Next-Gen Solutions: Accelerating Investments in Climate Tech Start-ups’.
Water Seminars
The Water Seminars on Day Two included the following topics: ‘New Applications of RO/NF Membrane in Special Separation’, ‘Seawater Desalination – Maximising Efficiency and Quality’, ‘Innovative RO Projection Software – AquaGrid’, a presentation by Zenner, ‘Latest Developments in Water Solutions - Innovations, Sustainability, Technologies’, ‘Solutions to Manage Water Needs: Wastewater/Rainwater Re-use’, ‘Wastewater and TSE Recycling for Industrial Process Water’, ‘Special Solutions for Wastewater Treatment – FOG/Scouring Degradation, Brine Management, Additives’, ‘Alternate Cycle Process for Biological Tank’, and ‘Nature-based Solutions for Wastewater Treatment’.
Health and Safety Hub
The Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services offered two workshops at the Health and Safety Hub, on ‘First Aid Awareness’ and ‘CPR’.
SRM Sessions
The Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) sessions focused on the health and safety standards adopted by DEWA and the mutual benefits between DEWA and its suppliers. The seminars also included an interactive session on Supply Chain Management and Supplier Happiness Champions, in addition to a session on initiatives launched by DEWA's SRM to enhance the inclusion and empowerment of People of Determination.
